The Dream of the Paragliding Girlfriend

It is no secret that the paragliding world is dominated by men.  Many of us men have partners with little or no interest in paragliding and we wish for a girlfriend who would also fly with us.

This is not to say that there are not female paragliding pilots.  Females make excellent paragliding pilots.

In this void of females one female has created quite a stir.  Her name is Lauren Martins from the UK.  She is not only an incredible pilot able to do tasks and distances worthy of notice but she happens to be very attractive as well.  She is not who you would picture flying the most advanced wings.  But here she is our little anomolie in the sport and I'm sure that will change over time but here's to you Lauren for creating the paragliding fantasy for many of the guys in the sport as you will quickly see if you look at her facebook page full of adoring fans.

You will find her on paragliding forums as one of the most outspoken contributors with very strong opinions especially about glider size which she often complains does not meet her expectations for the lighter small pilot.  I am glad she starts these discussions and keeps the sport innovating and improving.

Balls. California Solo Flying Expedition 2014: May 11th UPDATE

8+ days of food in his pack, flying alone across the Sierra's in California.

This is something I have wanted to do for a long time.  I have only had 1 accidental XC which is kinda a joke because essentially I got off course down a mountain and had to walk a few miles to the LZ.  To take the step from the training hills and local flying sites to committing to days of flying and hiking to go as far as you possibly can is kinda a big deal.

More than 150 miles of hiking!  A goal of 500+ miles total around 50% flying a Paraglider.  Dave Turner you are an ambitious bad ass!  Cheers to you brother.

His complete article is here
Dave Turner also has a company, Sierra Paragliding, and is probably a great person to learn xc bivak style flying from.

Olivier Fritz Ground Kiting Annecy

This video brought tears to my eyes literally.  Oliver is a true master at handling his wing on the ground.  Just look at the perfect astro turf!!!  More sites like this please :-)  No more rocks and goat weed on our pretty wings.

Thanks Blake Pelton for this link.  He makes super awesome knee mounts for gopro's btw.

A TRIBUTE: LLOYD PENNICUIK & BRUNO DELOUSTAL

Both flew and lived life on their terms, it wasn't paragliding that got em in the end.  Who knows when your time will come, live your best.
